BAG WfbM is looking for new partner organisations to promote workshop matters
After a strategic review, BAG WfbM is now ready to deeper engage workshop matters on a European level.
Recently, partner organisations have been contacted in order to attempt to create a group specialized in workshop details.
This initiative is necessary, after a communique called "Social services of general interests in the European Union", published by the European Commission (EC).
This report highlights the need to gain a better overview of social services in the member states.
A study will examine the situation throughout the Union and first results are expected to be published in 2007. It is crucial to begin a broader discussion about national rehabilitation services offered in rehabilitation centres, often called workshops. Many negative images exist throughout Europe when it comes to institutional rehabilitation and transport the ideas of persons who are locked away. These images do not reflect the variety of social actions and efforts workshops undertake for society. Most of the rehabilitation centres are very open and embedded in an integration system for persons with disabilities.
