Günter Mosen receives Federal Cross of Merit
Günter Mosen, chairman of “Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Werkstätten für behinderte Menschen e. V.” (BAG WfbM), has recently received the Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. The German President Horst Koehler acted on a suggestion by Kurt Beck, the Prime Minister of the Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate, who nominated Mosen for his commitment to socially disadvantaged people. Malu Dreyer, Federal Minister of State for Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Family and Women in Rhineland-Palatinate, chaired the ceremony.

In addition to the joy at this recognition, Mosen especially thanked the responsible persons in the bodies and institutions of BAG WfbM: “Its great social competence is an important factor in shaping our social and equitable society. In my capacity as chairman in various offices, I have always aimed to develop those abilities wherever we can and to put them into practice. I gratefully accept this award on behalf of all persons whose professional and personal commitment is dedicated to deprived people in the German society. This award is a sign of encouragement to those persons.”

Günter Mosen, living in Plaidt, was born on November 10, 1951. He is the managing director of the association of “Barmherzige Brüder Trier e. V.”, located in Saffig. In 1982, he became founding member of the Association of Catholic Institutions for Disability Assistance in the diocese of Trier, in which he served as honorary member and first chairman until 1994. From 1992 to 2001, he also chaired the State Federation of Workshops for Adapted Work (LAG:WfbM) in Rhineland-Palatinate where he still remains co-opted board member. From 1996 to 2000, he was deputy chairman of BAG WfbM and is now chairing it since 2000.
