Polish Association Visits Detmold
A delegation of the Polish Association for People with Disabilities PSOUU recently visited the workshops of the Lebenshilfe Detmold in North Rhine-Westphalia. Bernd Conrad, Vice-President of BAG WfbM and general manager of Lebenshilfe Detmold, had invited them to learn more about the Detmold Model of Learning. The idea for the visited originated in a meeting of Polish and German delegations during the workshop fair Werkstätten:Messe 2008 in Nuremberg in March.
During this meeting, the Polish colleagues expressed their interest to learn more about methods that help to identify the individual’s need for educational measures. In Detmold it was possible to experience first hand, how such a model works. Theoretical as well as practical aspects were discussed. As a result it was agreed upon, that the Detmold Model of Learning should be adapted for its implication in Poland.
BAG WfbM has worked closely with PSOUU since 2005. A highlight was Poland’s role as special guest country during the Werkstätten:Messe 2006.
