Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs presents Study at Workshop Fair
Everybody has the right to equal participation in working life. On Friday, 20 March 2009, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) will present the study on access and employment in workshops for adapted work (ISB study) at the Workshop Fair 2009 in Nuremberg.

Workshops for adapted work provide an important contribution to equal participation in working life for persons with disabilities. This will also be the case in the future. According to the invitation, the integration of citizens with disabilities into the open labour market wherever possible remains the primary goal of the ministry. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities gives rise to additional questions: Do disabled citizens receive sufficient support to gain a foothold in the open labour market?

The results of the study will be presented at the Workshop Fair. In collaboration with BAG WfbM, the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs invites the visitors of the fair to use the opportunity for information purposes and to discuss further improvements with various experts. The ministry stated: "If many experts share their views, it will be an informative and successful afternoon for the equal participation of persons with disabilities."

The study provides important findings on access and employment in workshops for adapted work. Above all, it provides ideas on how to ensure everybody’s participation in working life with regard to the individual situation. The introduction of Supported Employment at the beginning of the year was a first step.
