Project ‚WerkstattBudget’ Successfully Launched
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs intends to promote personalised budgets. Personalised budgets were introduced into German law in 2008. As a new tool, personalised budgets are designed to enable persons with disabilities to a more independant life.

In order to find ways to make personalised budgets more applicable, a project called ‚WerkstattBudget’ was launched last september in two German workshops. The project’s aim is it to structure the aggregate workshop service into seven different partial services in an initial step. Afterwards these services will be split off into various modules and elements. All elements, modules or partial service packages will be evaluated and priced.

Despite their degree of disability all workshop employees are entitled to get to use ‚WerkstattBudget’! It signifies an integral part of their rights to freely decide on the rehabilitation services they require. Modules or elements as part of service packages can be selected individually to better respond to individual needs.

Only modules will be offered alongside individual needs and will be fixed with a price. It is possible to additionally benefit from services located outside a workshop. The project will last until spring 2010. Project outcomes should be used by every interested workshop and will be presented during the next workshop fair, the Werkstätten:Messe, in 2010.

The Werkstätten:Messe 2010 will take place in Nuremberg as from March, 11th until 14th 2010!
