“Eucrea Deutschland e. V.” and “Allerhand Creativity Workshop” belonging to Gemeinnützige Werkstätten Köln GmbH invite people with mental disabilities to enter a design contest. This contest, which is encouraged by BAG WfbM, offers creative disabled people a comparative evaluation of their ideas and conceptual design by a professional jury. Candidates get also the chance of presenting the art objects to the public if their results are successful.
So far, design has been little appreciated as an art form applied by disabled persons. Workshop employees are mainly skilled trade manufacturer of workshop products. Planning and design are often carried out by qualified employees or external designers.
Creativity, originality and imaginativeness come first in this contest. Shapes, colours and materials are more important than skilled trade perfection and manageability. Little important is also if a conceptual design should some day be suitable for mass production.
How to participate:
The application can be submitted to Eucrea Deutschland e. V. until 15 September 2009. The application form and the rules of the contest are available on the internet: www.bagwfbm.de (only in German). The winners will be presented at three exhibitions in Hamburg, Köln und Berlin and their art object will be published in the exhibition magazine.
